The quarter 2 outcomes were not for the lodgings and the outcome announced lost $263 million (StamfordAdvocate 2016). On per share premise the organization announced lost $1.56 (StamfordAdvocate 2016). Since the offer cost of the Starwood Hotels Resorts overall were expanding from the earliest starting point of the year 2016 and the examiners were of the assessment that the income from the offer cost would be expanded to 75% however the profit from putting resources into the offer diminished to 71% (StamfordAdvocate 2016). Starwood Hotels have a sum of 1300 lodgings that works around the world (Chaturvedi 2016). The primary concern of the financials made sense of lost $228 million from the ceasing tasks this brought about auctioning off of the Vistana excursions one of its business to interim relaxation gathering (Starwoodhotels.com 2016). $15 million were identified with the expense of the Marriotts International and its merger this likewise added to the loss of the Company (Starwoodhotels.com 2016). Why Starwood Hotels are failing to meet expectations The motivation behind why Starwood lodgings are failing to meet expectations they have twelve brands working under it yet they fall behind as far as rivalry (StamfordAdvocate 2016). The benefits have indicated a downturn for the Starwood Hotels as the interest for the rooms eased back down (Bloomberg.com 2012). The Hotel is failing to meet expectations when contrasted with other huge top lodgings organizations for example Hilton and Marriott (Bloomberg.com 2012). The Hotel is auctioning off its brands and resources and the value and obligation is pouring in the Company. Starwood Properties are ordered as extravagance and where the financial specialists and bidders are extremely less in number and striking arrangements between the two takes a great deal of time (Bloomberg.com 2012). Premise on positioning the lodgings At the point when the Hotels are failing to meet expectations the proprietor must search for the open door for development (Mail Online 2015). The forceful limits on the room are unrealistic since the Hotels have taken the idea of changing them in light of the fact that the lodgings are appraised between one to five stars (Mail Online 2015). These rates are given by the visitors of the lodgings and these rely upon the offices gave by the inns, the area of the inn plays a significant job while getting a decent evaluating from the guest, engineering and plans of the anteroom additionally assume a significant job and given most extreme significance by the guests (Mail Online 2015). The idea of homes that is connected in with the inns is currently especially new to UK when contrasted with different nations like Europe, Asia and United States that have just begun with such idea (Mail Online 2015). To the extent the structuring task of the inn is concerned the primary focal point of the open lies in the plan and engineering of the inn. The inn ought to be completely outfitted with winning tastes and inclinations and structures (Mail Online 2015). The inn creates income by keeping up effective structures in the lodgings and pulling in the clients. The job of the engineers is to fulfill the need of the clients. Right off the bat, the significance is being given to the entryway. The entryway makes the early introduction of the inn as the guest first visits the anteroom and gets an impression of the lodging (Mail Online 2015). The Starwood Hotels give the guests a choice to book their rooms on the web and keeping in mind that doing so the guests will be given additional focuses and to remain in the inn the guests as indicated by the focuses will be given the free evenings (Starwoodhotels.com 2016). With the chose lodging the guests can profit a markdown of 10% when utilizing the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) on the web (Starwoodhotels.com 2016). Proposal The Starwood Hotels Resorts Worldwide are the inns that serve just one area of the general public where the other segment of the general public isn't focused by the inns and it incorporates the huge piece of individuals (Marriott News Center 2016). The vacationers to a great extent command the lodging market. The opposition for the lodging market is rising and getting serious in nature (Costa et al. 2012). The organizations must apply certain procedures so as to get the quantity of footfalls and accomplish higher targets. The methodologies that the movement and housing Companies must follow are expressed as follows: Focusing on key areas: The inns ought to have their essence in the key urban communities and spots where the where the housing organizations are developing and can target both local and global voyagers (White 2016). Focusing on key guests: As the salary rises guests travel more and might want to remain in sumptuous inns different voyagers would head out to the city of their advantage and would likewise get a chance to remain in a rich lodging (White 2016). Market Leadership: The lodgings who attempt to get properties and keeping up their quality in all around the globe to get hold of the market initiative. This procedure is by all accounts complex and requires an immense lump of venture that must be made by the organization (One Mile at a Time 2015). The Lodging Companies ought to have a tie up with the voyaging organizations where the voyaging office will furnish limits to the guests who with the assistance of the offices will book the rooms on the web (Marriott News Cent

The most beautiful class schedule
The most beautiful class schedule I feel sooo motivated today. You know that feeling when youâre just starting out your semester or school year or whatever and you keep telling yourself that youâre positive this is the semester where youâre going to focus, work hard, and do amazingly well? But then maybe you feel compelled to access your rational, âoutside viewâ shoulder-devil to remember the times youâve lost your optimism as the semester has unfolded.. to try and predict that those late nights youâll be up doing work till 4 a.m. will likely demoralize you until your stash of motivation is entirely depleted and you fall asleep in your chair, or at least get pretty sad and decide ânever mindâ on the whole âdo amazingly wellâ thing. And then you ask, is this semester any different? Or is there any good reason it might be? Last semester it was ânoâ for me, but this semester itâs âyes, I am totally positive.â When I registered for classes in the fall (last) semester, I was actually told that the subjects I was taking were known for being particularly dry and boring and was advised to read Econ-related material on the side in order to ânot lose interest in economics.â Personally I like to read, so this was okay. I like reading about Economics beyond the âdryâ introductory classes I was taking last semester, and I also like reading about various political philosophies. In the past Iâve been a junkie for the kinds of dusty old works of revolutionary politics that continue to organize small modern factions of alternative thought, not necessarily because I subscribe to the beliefs, but because I think theyâre interesting and fun and worth thinking about. I like psychology stuff, specifically as it relates to the meaning of âsubjective wellbeingâ and what kinds of ways itâs plausib le to organize people in. The book âGoverning the Commonsâ made me think about institutions, and âWhy Nations Failâ made me think about the nature of them. I ended up reading like 20 books last semester, and I think Iâve learned a solid amount from that, including how much I donât know and what I really, really want to learn. So then, I guess the reason I am so motivated for this semester is because many of those demoralizing sleepless nights from last semester were a result of me procrastinating by better defining my *actual* interests, which I will really pursue academically starting now. If you asked me at this moment about what my aspiration is in life, I would tell you (broadly) that I think I want to engineer and implement institutions to provide people within them the mechanisms and incentives to maximize their utilitarian benefit or subjective wellbeing. I imagine (based on my present understanding of âsubjective wellbeingâ) that this type of institution would combine pro-social elements with individual incentives towards achievement and productivity. In particular, Iâm interested in the idea that firms at least in certain industries can be reimagined or improved to this end, though I feel I donât yet have the knowledge or conceptual tools I would need to do it in a satisfying way.. ..which is okay! Because, fortuitously, all of the four elective classes I registered for this semester are in some way relevant to institutional design, as well as just being generally super interesting. There are six classes in total, but the load isnt very intense or technical, so I am pretty confident I can stick with all of them. They are: 14.05: Intermediate Macroeconomics Uses the tools of macroeconomics to investigate various macroeconomic issues in depth. Topics range from economic growth and inequality in the long run to economic stability and financial crises in the short run. Surveys many economic models used today. Requires a substantial research paper on the economics of long-run economic growth. 14.32: Econometrics Introduction to econometric ideas and methods, emphasizing data analysis for empirical causal inference. Topics include randomized trials, regression, instrumental variables, differences-in-differences, and regression discontinuity designs. 14.20: Industrial Organization and Competitive Strategy Analyzes the behavior and performance of firms in markets, with a particular focus on strategic interactions. Topics include monopoly power, behavior of firms in oligopoly markets, static and dynamic measurement of market performance, pricing and product choice decisions, advertising, research and development, and theory of the firm. Requires attendance and team participation in a Competitive Strategy Game. 15.678J/17.100J/14.781J Political Economy I: Theories of the State the Economy Political Economy I explores the major social science paradigms for analyzing relations among state, economy, and society. Through readings, lectures and discussion of original texts in political liberalism and individualism, neo-classical economics, Marxism, sociological and cultural theories, and neo-institutionalism, the seminar examines the fundamental assumptions on which our understanding of the social world and our research are based. All participants in the seminar are required to do the weekly readings before class meetings, and all are expected to participate actively in discussions. The course also requires two 12-15 page essays on assigned topics. The seminar is open to graduate students in all departments and also to undergraduates with prior course work in economics or political science and with permission of the instructors. I had my first session of this class today, and in describing what we could expect from the course, the professor explained to us that each week she would cover a different theory of political economy and present their most compelling arguments as if she were trying to convince us that each theory were true. Essentially, we would have to decide for ourselves which one(s) we thought made the most sense, without any bias from the course itself as to which ones were superior to others. The first lecture, as sort of an introduction, went on to describe how social behaviors and arbitrary patterns of communication have shaped the progression of scientific thought, which I thought was very cool. :â) 15.310: Managerial Psychology âSurveys social psychology and organization theory as interpreted in the context of the managerial environment. Covers a number of diverse topics, including motivation and reward systems, social influence, groups and teams, leadership, power, organizational design and culture, and networks and communication patterns.â And on the syllabus: âVirtually all of you will work in organizations, large and small, after you graduate from MIT or after additional schooling. There are many versions of what success will mean in these jobs and (thankfully) not everyone wants the same thing. But regardless of what you want from work, it will be very important that you understand how organizations function and how people behave in them. This course will expose you to a range of questions regarding attitudes and behaviors inside of organizations. We will also examine organizations from a broader societal perspective. The material in this course will better enable you to think about your behavior at work, your environment, your co-workers, and some larger questions about all of this. We will also help you develop research, writing and presentation skills that will hold you in good stead over the years ahead.â 17.01: Justice âThis course explores the ideal of social justice. What we want to know is what makes a society just. Must a society protect individual liberties in order to be just? Which ones? Must a society ensure equality in order to be just? What kind? Can a society ensure both liberty and equality? We will approach these questions by studying three opposing theories of justice utilitarianism, libertarianism, and egalitarian liberalism each foundational to contemporary political thought and discourse.â Also my actual schedule. It forces me to get up in the mornings, but I think (with dedication) I can adjust to that.

Analysis Of The Book Collage City - 2305 Words
Theory and History of Cities Book Review : COLLAGE CITY Focus: Collision City and the Politics of Bricolage INTRODUCTION Colin Rowe and Fred Koetter co-authored the book Collage City which was published by the MIT press in 1978. The authors were both professors at the Cornell University at the time. Rowe is acknowledged as a major intellectual influence on world architecture and urbanism in the second half of the twentieth century and beyond. He is known for his non-linear comparisons of examples. In The Mathematics of the Ideal Villa (1947) in which he theorized that there were compositional rules in Palladioââ¬â¢s villas that could be demonstrated to correspond to similar rules in Le Corbusierââ¬â¢s villas at Poissy and Garches, it enabled Rowe to elaborate an astonishingly fresh and provocative trans-historical critique of both Palladio and Le Corbusier, in which the architecture of both was assessed not in chronological time, but side by side in the present moment. This completely unorthodox, simultaneous, non-linear, non-chronological view of history made it possible for him to develop the oretical speculations. This way, for the first time he re-situated modern architecture within history and acknowledged history as an active influence. Post Modernism Rowe in Collage City wrote a very condensed summary of the ideas developed within the Urban Design studio he taught at Cornell. At the end of 2012 the National Unemployment Rate was 7.8% (ââ¬Å"Labor Force Statistics from the Current Population Surveyâ⬠) and employers were struck with the daunting task of filling 3.6 million job openings (Smith.) In an article for Forbes on the subject of the daunting prospect of the job search, Jacquelyn Smith shares this startling fact: ââ¬Å"The average number of people who apply for any given job: 118.â⬠With the downturn in the economy in recent years, candidates for any given job can include inexperienced job seekers, seasoned competitive candidates, and even those who are looking to start their second or third career. The interview portion of the process can even possess unreasonable bias to the applicant. Hypothetical questions about working in teams and working with clients allow the applicant to filter themselves, saying only what they think the employer wants to hear, focusing on strengths instead of weaknesses. Applicants who work in sales and are used to the practice of pitching products and services, will have their own sales pitch prepared and be ready to sell their product ââ¬â themselves ââ¬â as the solution to the employers hiring problem. Using social media when analyzing candidates can give an employer more unbiased information about applicants than the best resume or the longest interview. Even though the practice of using social media to vet candidates is relatively new, there are standards already established for this process. Employers who are hesitant to use social media typically cite fear of allegations of discriminatory hiring practices. To protect themselves against legal ramifications of unfair hiring processes, employers should always consult with an employment attorney to develop policies for gathering and use of internet-based information (ââ¬Å"The Facebook Background Check.â⬠) An employment attorney can helpShow MoreRelated21st Century Solutions Health Care Hospital1722 Words à |à 7 PagesIntroduction For this assignment, I will be discussing my duties at 21st Century Solutions Health Care Hospital. President AJ Essay Example For Students
President AJ Essay Andrew Jackson was born in 1767, and grew up in the border of North and South Carolina. He attended frontier schools and acquired the reputation of being fiery-tempered and willing to fight all comers. He also learned to read, and he was often called on by the community to read aloud the news from the Philadelphia papers. In 1775, with the beginning of the American Revolution, Andrew Jackson, then only 13 years old became an orderly and messenger. He took part in the Battle of Hanging Rock against the British and in a few small skirmishes with British sympathizers known as Loyalists or Tories. His brother Hugh was killed, and when the British raided Waxhaw, both he and Robert were captured. Because Jackson refused to polish the boots of a British officer, he was struck across the arm and face with a saber. The boys were put in a British prison in Camden, South Carolina, where an epidemic of smallpox broke out. Mrs. Jackson gained her boys release, but Robert soon died. Mrs. Jackson t hen volunteered to nurse other American prisoners, and she too caught smallpox and died. Andrew was now 14 years old and without any immediate family. With the war over, he took up saddle making and school teaching. With a $300 inheritance from his grandfather, he went to Charleston, South Carolina, then the biggest city in the South. There he cut a dashing figure in society until his money ran out. In 1787, Andrew Jackson became a lawyer and he set his office up in McLeanville, North Carolina. He quickly became successful lawyer and engaged himself in land speculation. He soon moved his office to Nashville where he met and fell in love with Mrs. Rachel Donelson Robard. Believing that Mr. Robards had obtained a divorce, they were married in 1791. Two years later they found that this was not so and the divorce had just then become final. A second marriage ceremony was performed. However, this failed to prevent gossips and political opponents from attempting to make a scandal out of t he Jacksons happy marriage. Mrs. Jackson endured in silence the many slanders that followed. Jackson, however, preferred to use dueling pistols to avenge his wifes honor. In 1796, Andrew Jackson was elected into the House of Representatives, representing Tennessee. He soon allied with the Jeffersonian Party, criticizing Washington and his administration. He claimed that Washingtons program dealing with the Indians were not strong enough and that Jays Treaty dealing with foreign affairs with France was not in Americas interest. After one year in the, Jackson moved to the Senate, the other chamber of the Congress of the United States. He served from September 1797 to April 1798 and then retired to private life. During the years of 1804 to 1812, Jackson settled, with his wife in his home retiring indefinately. Although Jackson was active in local politics, he took little interest in national affairs. The one exception was his brief involvement with the so-called Burr conspiracy. Forme r Vice President Aaron Burr, determined to restore his personal fortunes, convinced Jackson that he had government backing to lead a filibustering expedition into Mexico. Jackson agreed to build him some boats, but when he realized that Burr and his group were acting entirely on their own, he immediately dropped his connection with the scheme. Jacksons hot temper involved him in a number of feuds and duels. Many of them were caused by remarks made about his marriage. The duel with Charles Dickinson in 1806 stands out as an example of Jacksons characteristic refusal even to acknowledge the possibility of defeat. Jackson let his opponent fire first, because Dickinson was a faster and better shot. Allowing himself time to take deliberate aim, Jackson planned to kill his man with a single bullet, even if he had shot me through the brain. Thus, Jackson took a bullet in the chest and, without flinching, calmly killed his man. Jackson was also involved in a brawl with politician Thomas Har t Benton and his brother Jesse Benton. Jackson was shot twice in the shoulder and arm by Jesse and was seriously wounded. However, in later years, Jackson and Thomas Hart Benton became .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .postImageUrl , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:hover , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:visited , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:active { border:0!important; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:active , .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue3e7ec5e3705fa445506f54cf0a9648f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Movie Food Inc. Ge Honeywell free essay sample
Honeywellââ¬â¢s Failed Merger GE, while only encompassing a limited stake in the aerospace industry, nevertheless faced challenges in its merger with Honeywell due to its market share in the Large Regional and Large Commercial aircraft segments. Additionally, the ââ¬Å"portfolio effectâ⬠of the merger and GEââ¬â¢s potential to reach ââ¬Å"end to endâ⬠monopolization of the value chain through the bundling of its financing arm (GE Capital), its leasing subsidiary (GECAS), and Honeywellââ¬â¢s avionics manufacturing and MRO capabilities worried European Commission regulators. This merger would be categorized as both vertical and horizontal. As a horizontal merger, the companies overlap within the ââ¬Å"installed baseâ⬠large regional aircraft segment. GE is a manufacturer, financer, servicer leaser and buyer of engines for this segment and Honeywell is a manufacturer and servicer of the same. Vertically, there is integration with GE Capital to finance a finished ââ¬Å"bundleâ⬠of GE engine and Honeywell non-engine aerospace equipment (avionics) parts. We will write a custom essay sample on Ge Honeywell or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The most significant synergies created by the merger were derived from the combined engine manufacturing capabilities of the two companies and the complementary services each company provided to the other to control the value chain. First, GEââ¬â¢s vertical integration of financing through GE Capital created a competitive advantage for GE to sell engines at a discounted rate, allowing it to win contracts. This advantage was perpetuated, since the airlines benefitted from commonality in the fleet. Honeywell would be helped tremendously by this financing advantage and the ability of both companies to bundle both the engine and avionics products together would put them at a distinct advantage in project bids. Specifically in the ââ¬Å"installed baseâ⬠segment, airlines would be incentivized to make one bundled purchase of both sets of equipment, which would not only generate revenue for GE in the short run but also go a long way in securing future contracts with airlines due to the benefits of standardization. Table 1 shows estimates of the value of 20% revenue growth by Honeywell as a result of this synergy. Second, MRO synergy would enable GE to continue to grow its aftermarket services business, which had quickly grown into the majority revenue share by 2000. The addition of Honeywell would broaden the scope of the service contracts to include avionics products, and reinforce the incentive for airlines to purchase GE / Honeywell products. Table 2 shows Honeywell and GE combined revenue growth of GE as a result of this synergy. Finally, the combined manufacturing capabilities of the two companies in the large regional aircraft segment provides fixed cost savings for each company and especially Honeywell by merging management expertise and manufacturing capabilities. Table 3 shows the reduction in COGS for Honeywell as a result of this synergy. Table 4 shows the combined benefits of all three synergies. Market Definition of GEââ¬â¢s dominance in the large jet engine segments was a benefit to GE because the European Commission did not segment it further to just regional aircraft, nor did the Commission separate the MRO market into its own segment, of which both Honeywell and GE had significant market share (although its divestiture was cited as a condition in the DOJ ruling). To GEââ¬â¢s detriment, however, the Commission defined the market in terms of ââ¬Å"installed baseâ⬠engines that were still in production and did not include those out of production. Also, the calculation of market share in joint ventures hurt GE in the market share calculations. Most of the Commissionââ¬â¢s concerns in the merger seemed to revolve around the potential of the merger to force competitors such as Rolls Royce and Pratt amp; Whitney out of the market, which would then lead to ââ¬Å"market foreclosureâ⬠. I believe the DOJ took a longer term perspective of the market, and the Commissionââ¬â¢s refusal to include out of service aircraft is an indicator of this line of reasoning. In my view, and perhaps the DOJ, GEââ¬â¢s ability to sell engines and avionics at a lower price than the current competition may be an advantage but it is certainly not anticompetitive. There is nothing preventing the other companies from making a better engine or a cheaper engine in order to sway standardization trends. If anything, these efficiencies are a benefit to the consumer as the cost saving are passed on from the airline. Recommendations I believe the merger should have been approved because the market effects of the conglomerate actually increase efficiencies in the market ââ¬â savings which can be passed on to consumers. Further, the merger does not create any new products- the competing engine manufacturers are more than capable of continuing to produce engines that compete with GE and Honeywell, if not on price then on functionality or any other aspect. That said, I also recommend the divestiture of the MRO arm of both GE and Honeywell, not only because the role in servicing could create a conflict of interest, but because it is outside of the realm of both companyââ¬â¢s core competency. The continued revenue growth of the MRO arm could threaten to sap resources from more innovative projects.

The Making of Evita essays
The Making of Evita essays As I sit here at my computer, I am at a standstill trying to decide where to start. How do you condense a person into ten short pages, and still enable the reader to get to know them. I have decided that the task is nearly impossible, even in the telling of a life that was tragically so short. Evita, as the people affectionately knew her, entered into this world with nothing and left with everything. From a poor peasant girl growing up in the pampas, to a popular media personality, to the First Lady of Argentina. In her short period on this earth she definitely made her mark. To this day, she is still a controversial figure in her native Argentina. She was beloved by the working classes and shunned by the aristocracy. When Eva Pern died in 1952 of cancer, a group of anti-Pernist tried to erase all physical evidence relating to Evita. Her personal notes, diaries, and photos were burned in public demonstrations. Her monuments were torn down and destroyed. Evas body disappeared for sixteen years, in hopes that without the physical body, Eva would be soon forgotten. A group sprang up soon after and flourished in Argentina, the Saint Evita cult. Posters of Evita were on every street corner, in all the villages, and in the peoples hearts. The president, who took office after Juan Pern was overthrown, was kidnapped and murdered by Saint Evita followers who wanted him to reveal where her body had been hidden. Finally, in 1976, Eva Duarte-Pern was interred in the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentine. For the first time since her death, she had come home again. Who is this woman, who even in death can incite such devotion? Just as mysteries surrounded Eva in death, so did they shadow her life. The Evita of the Argentine people is straightforward, and there are very few secrets. It is Evas life before Pern that is obscured and ...

Destination Marketing and Management Assignment
Destination Marketing and Management - Assignment Example With globalization, competition between industry has increased to a great extend, and this has given rise to new destinations which are made affordable through effective marketing tools and strategies. In addition to the above, a new conceptual framework for competitiveness has been adopted by the tourism industry. This is because sustainable tourism can prove to be a key driver for the development of economic as well as social factors as long as it get delivered by an effective structures and strategies, and hence bringing together all resources of the relevant partners, the public, private and the voluntary groups (Terzibasoglu, 2010). Destinations are the most difficult entities in the process of market and manage and this is because of the complexity of the relationship between the local stakeholders. The marketing and managing of the destinations are also tough because of variety of stakeholders who are involved in the production and development of the tourism and products. The strategic aims are quite different from each other and often conflicting. Consumers however tends to experience a particular destination as total experience which comprises of the essence the resources of a particular region, services as well as products which tends to represents the personal and professional interest of people living as well as working in that particular destination (Dukic, 2009, p. 25). However, global competitiveness along with tourism concentration tends to create challenges as well as problems to create customer loyalty as well as sustainable competitive advantage in the tourism market. The issues are apparent mainly in the demand management and in the creation of images which are unique for particular tourist destinations. Tourism which has proved to be an economic activity has importance in the development of the national economy. Analysis and Evaluation There have been various discussions about the tourism literature particularly about the concept of destina tion. A standard and uniform definition of the term ââ¬Ëdestinationââ¬â¢ has been said to be elusive as well as difficult to reach due to various implications and permutation which are associated with such an attempt. According to Pike, (2008) with the use of System approach and also supported by the consumption pattern of the destinations by the respective consumers, thus it can be argued that destination is termed as geographical space where a cluster of resources with respect to tourism exists and not any political boundary. It has been said that the system view of the tourism industry and the environmental scanning has affected the activities of the destination level and requires integrative and comprehensive approach with respect to management and marketing. But unfortunately the existing literature has defined and emphasised mostly on one aspect which tends to create challenge for the tourism industry. The scope and concept of destination management and marketing is well defined in the following figure. Figure 1: Destination Marketing and Management (Source: Wang & Pizam, p.6) Pike has identified three different types of organisations which are actively engaged in the destination management and marketing. They are known as DMOs who are mainly responsible for promotion, providing policy advices to the government agencies (Wang & Pizam, 2011, p.6). Strategic and tactical

The Implications of Reconstruction Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Implications of Reconstruction - Essay Example 562). Reconstruction's biggest failure was the backlash that was created when Northern Republicans attempted to rule the South. The backlash resulted in violent hate groups that disrupted the political system, and the lives of African-Americans for the next 100 years. The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments were all passed during the era of reconstruction. These important amendments prohibited slavery, guaranteed the freed slaves citizenship, and granted them the right to vote, but were largely unenforceable in the South. However, these amendments would form the foundation for the Civil Rights movement 100 years later. Reconstruction ended when the disputed election of 1876 saw the Republican Rutherford B Hayes gain the presidency, even though the electoral votes were in dispute. In return, Hayes agreed to remove the federal troops from the South and not oppose the newly formed Democratic governments there (Zuczek 171). This spelled an end to Reconstruction and another 100 years of racial violence, segregation, and discrimination. By the late 19th century, African-Americans had still not realized the American dream of liberty and the right to vote, or the constitutional guarantees that came with the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

Varieties of Market Segmentation
Varieties of Market Segmentation MARKET SEGMENTATION Market segmentation is the process of categorizing the market into several groups on the basis of various factors such as demographic, geographic, psychological, and behavioral factors. This is to ensure that the marketers can understand their target audience better so as to make the marketing more effective and get more satisfied customers. Thus, the marketers can gain a great advantage over the competitors. There are different ways by which market segments can be categorized. It can be done by categorizing the preferences of the consumer. Based on this, market can be categorized as homogeneous preferences, diffused preferences and clustered preferences. In homogeneous preferences the customers roughly have the same preferences whereas it varies in case of diffused preferences. When a group of consumers have shared preferences it leads to the formation of natural market segment which refers to clustered preference. While marketing a product three areas of marketing must be taken into consideration, i.e, mass marketing, product differentiated marketing and target marketing. Mass marketing takes into account mass producing, mass distributes and mass promotes on product to all buyers. It is important to realize the great variety in individual customers and therefore the marketers use this type of segmentation to customize their marketing programmes for each customer. In product differentiated marketing more than one product with different features, style, size, and quality is introduced. In target marketing, on the basis of the market segments the products are developed and customized. Market segments can be differentiated in various ways. Some of them are demographics, geographics, psychographics and behavioural segmentation. Demographic segmentation Demographic factors are age, gender, income, occupation, education, religion, generation, nationality, family size, family cycle, social class etc. Based on these demographic values, the customers are divided into various segments. This type of segmentation is suitable because the variables are easy to measure and as they provide description of the target customers therefore media buyers and others can target a desired target market. Some of the important variables while segmenting markets are: Age and Life cycle segmentation As the desire and need of customer change with their age therefore age and life cycle is a good factor in order to determine marketing approach. One of the examples is of a 70 year old person using landlines instead of mobile phones due to lack of technological knowledge. Therefore marketers need to take this into consideration and guard against stereotypes. This can also be associated with buying pattern and behavioural characterstic. For example, as married people have various economical obligation therefore they tend to spend less on luxury items whereas on the contrary, single people tend to purchase new fashionable items as they donââ¬â¢t have such economic obligations. Gender Segmentation As the needs and wants of men and women are different therefore gender segmentation is being applied from a long time in terms of clothing, hairstyle, magazines, cosmetics. But the marketers must not define a product as being masculine or feminine as metro sexuality has become a common gender-factor. Income Segmentation This type of segmentation can be seen in automobiles, financial services, travel, clothing, and cosmetics. Usually the high income customers are the target but it should be considered by the companies that just the income cannot be suitable criteria to determine the customer as they might have different preferences and priorities while selecting a product. Even the lower income groups are targeted as the competitive pressure reduces and the consumer loyalty is gained. Generation Segmentation Various significant events, many a times characterize a particular period. These influential factors can be music, politics, movies etc. Therefore the marketers must make use of the images and icons of a particular generation in order to market their product. Social class Segmentation Most of the companies design their product for a specific social class. It divides the customers on the basis of their preferences towards cars, clothing, leisure activities, home furnishing, retailers, reading habits etc. Demographic segmentation thus assumes that people with different backgrounds and other differences are likely to share same values and behaviour. Geographic Segmentation In this method of segmentation, customers can be categorized on the basis of countries, nation, state, region, city, and neighborhood. But a company must consider the fact that the data might vary due to population shift. Various sales and purchases are based on the geographical variables as the purchasing behaviour of the customers are influenced on where they live or work. Sometimes there are also differences in the location where the product is marketted due to cultural factors, tradition, politics. These differences can be significant in one segment whereas in other segments there might just be minor differences. Globalization plays a major role in linking socio economic and demographic characteristics. This type of segmentation is referred to as geodemographics. It therefore combines the target customers with where they live. Instead of comparing the consumers by their occupation, the consumers are compared on the basis of where they live, hence the companies are more capable of predicting consumer behaviour. Psychographic Segmentation There are two types of customers, personality profiles and lifestyle profiles. The psychological variables provide the marketer opportunity to get additional information about traditional, geographical, demographic bases like sex, age, income. Psychological profiles are often used as a supplement to geographics and demographics. Therefore on the basis of their attitude, values, lifestyles, interests and opinions people are divided in psychographic segmentaton. Behavioural Segmentation There are various behavioural variables such as occasions, benefits, status, usage rates, loyalty, attitude, buyer readiness (which will be discussed in detail) which determine behavioural segmentation .These variables are considered the best starting points in constructing market segments which are mainly based on the customers attitude towards the use and response to a product. Occasions Customers are divided into segments according to the time on which they get the idea to buy a product. The time can be a day , a week, a month or an year. An example for this situation is the variation in market strategy for Christmas and Valentines day. Benefits As different kind of people look for different benefits in the same product, this segmentation divides the customers based on this. People tend to look for the benefits provided by different brands and accordingly they make their choice. Here casual factors play a major role rather than descriptive factor like demographics. User status This type segmentation is done on the basis of the category of users , i.e potential users, non users, ex-users, first time users, regular users etc. The marketing approach varies according to the type of users. Usage rate Based on the usage of the product, the customers are divided into various segments like non users, heavy, medium, light product users. The basic strategy followed by the company is to target one heavy user instead of several light product users because the heavy users account for a high percentage of total buying although they constitute a small percentage of the market. But the other users must not be neglected as even they may provide better future prospects. Usage rate further divides the customer according to time which means that the product to be sold may vary according to time. Buyer readiness stage It depends on the factors such as peopleââ¬â¢s awareness and interest in the product. A person might be aware of the product and he also may not be. The difference lies in whether they are just informed about the product or interested in buying the product or they desire to buy the product or just intend to buy the product. In all the cases, a customer must be lead along so that he finally gets convinced to buy the product. For example, a person belonging to a different place might not be aware of the products particularly sold at one place hence the marketing strategy should be different at that place and the product should be promoted more. Loyalty status Based on the loyalty of the customers, they can be categorized as hard core loyals, split loyals, shifting loyals and switchers. Hard core loyals tend to stick to a particular brand for a long period of time without even considering other brands. Split loyals have preference towards two to three brands and they keep switching in these. Shifting loyals stay with a particular brand for some time and then change it. Switchers do not have any specific choice and they keep changing the brands from time to time. Attitude People can have an enthusiastic, indifferent, positive, negative, or hostile approach towards a product. Based on these factors people can be divided into various segments and hence the company can get a good idea of the market and the strtegy to be followed. To improve the targetting strategies and get a clear picture of the market, it is important for the marketers to combine different behavioural variables. A marketer must reach all buyers in all segments by defining its target audience. By taking into account various concepts such as demographic segmentation, geographic segmentation, the psychographic segmentation and the behavioural segmentation, a company must decide which is the most appropriate concept while designing the market strategy. For example , demographic and behavioural segmentation are the most appropriate oneââ¬â¢s while designing market strategies of a telephone as the ages of the customers is an important factor. Apart from age, attitude is also an important factor. Once the target customers have been defined, the next step is to evaluate the market segments and decide in which segments the marketing strategy should be directed. Market targeting is the second stage of the segmentation process.

The Yom Kippur War Essay -- Israel
Israeli preparation for war with Syria was less extensive than the Egyptian preparations, because the border was smaller (Approximately 80 miles vs. 40 miles) in comparison to the Egyptian-Israeli border. (See Figure 2. Israel - Syria Border). Israel built fortified Jewish settlements in the Golan. Anticipating Syriawould attack with armor, Israel made obstacles, tank traps, and minefields. Reinforced bunkers and tank placements were created. The battlefield plan was laid out with interlocking fields of fire to halt any Syrian advance. Israel had made peace with Jordan so there was no perceived need to fortify the Israel-Jordan border. Egyptian troop and installation preparations during the War of Attrition were in direct contrast to Israelââ¬â¢s Bar-Lev Line. Egypt did not anticipate a large scale attack across the Suez Canal so there was no need for the equivalent of a Bar-Lev Line on the west side of the Suez Canal. They did have mobile forces of armor, artillery, and infantry that harassed the Israelis with probes and artillery barrages. Egypt also practiced surge and retreat of troops along the Suez Canal. These surges were purposefully done to lull Israel into complacency and safety. Disinformation was practiced and journalists often found Arab documents detailing the shortcomings in Arab unity and military readiness. Egyptââ¬â¢s president Anwar Sadat contributed as well. Several times he had threatened military action against Israel and the deadlines passed with no repercussions. All the while, Sadat and his counterpart in Syria, President Hafez al Asad, were committed to military action. Egypt took a ction to address two specific Israeli advantages from the Six Day War, Israeli air superiority and Israeli tank operations. Egypt ... ...y the tactical advantage from 6-8 October and would attack the Golan Heights on three fronts, a northern from, a middle front, and a southern front. One division allocated for each front and a Ranger Battalion to take an Israeli command and control outpost in the high north. An intense barrage of Syrian artillery prepared the assault. Unfortunately for the Syrians, the terrain of the Golan Heights provided limited avenues of approach so Israel had well planned defensive positions. 37 Three divisions proceeded to advance in their corridor encountering stiff resistance from the undermanned, but well prepared defensive Israeli positions. Syrian armor had difficulty negotiating preplaced minefields, tank traps, and obstacles and it was ââ¬Å"target practiceâ⬠38 for the Israeli defenders and the Syrians suffered heavy losses. Syria still had strength in numbers on its side.

Branches of Philosophy Essay
Thesis This essay project with answer different questions to the six branches of Philosophy. The branches are Metaphysics-is something real? Epistemology-How do we know? Ethics-What is right or wrong? Aesthetics- Is something beautiful? Political- What government is best? And Social- How should we act in in society. Six Branches of Philosophy There are six branches of philosophy. There is Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics, Aesthetics, Political, and Social. Each branch asks us all specific types of questions that we ask ourselves each and every day. Some of these questions we ask without even realizing that we have done so. Metaphysics is the first branch of Philosophy in this discussion. This asks the question of what is real. At an early age we are taught that there is a heaven and earth. At different times we ask ourselves is there really a heaven. Based on what we are taught I believe there is a heaven and that there will come a time in our life that we will be in the place created by God called heaven. According to the bible, God created man from the dust of the earth. We live in the physical world and the spiritual world depends on each personââ¬â¢s spiritual belief. I believe each one of us has a soul. I believe the soul stays around loved ones until the day of reckoning. I believe all people have free will but different circumstances determine what happens to us thru fate. The psychological world I believe consists of our mind and the world that we chose to create for ourselves to live in. The Epistemology branch asks us the question of how is anything known. Things that are known are taught to us from our parents and by teachers in school. We are taught different things thru text books and by experience. Thru different experiences we learn how to conduct ourselves around other people and we gain knowledge by studying the different works of scientists and scholars. There are not any limits to human understanding. Each personââ¬â¢s understanding depends on them. Some people understand things differently than others and each personââ¬â¢s limits differ from others. I donââ¬â¢t believe there is a relationship between faith and reason. Faith goes along with ethics and morals. I donââ¬â¢t fully understand what artificial intelligence is. The next branch of philosophy is the Ethics branch. We are taught from an early age the difference of right and wrong. Laws tell us what is or isnââ¬â¢t right and as humans if we break these laws we are punished. To me being a good person means to follow the golden rule ââ¬Å"Do unto others as you would have them do unto youâ⬠. I believe that virtue does lead to happiness. If you do what is right by others then others will have the tendency to follow your lead. I believe society affects morality. This all depends on the circumstances in which you live. If you live in an area that has a lot of crime and hatred then you have the tendency to follow others in that area. If you set high moral standards for yourself then no matter where you live or the types of people you are surrounded with wonââ¬â¢t affect you. I think that morality is more culture based. Each person has to choose how they apply the morals they are taught at an early age to their adult lives. Each person has different morals that they live by and have to decide how these will be applied. The next branch of philosophy we are going to discuss is the Aesthetics branch. This brings up the question of what is beautiful. In my opinion beauty is in the eye of the beholder and each culture has what they regard as to what is beautiful. Art depicts the creatorââ¬â¢s feelings or ideas as to what they believe beauty is. Art can be successful and valuable to the creator and also to the person that enjoys different art forms. To one person a piece of art might have beauty to it and to another person it might be just horrendous. So therefore beauty in art may or may not matter to all people. The next topic is the political branch of philosophy. I believe the best type of government is the democratic government. This form of government, people do have a small voice in different matters. I think the government should have limited power and that the government should listen to the common people as to what the needs of the population are. I believe that if the common person had the ability to be more involved in the government of today then the needs of the common person would be made possible thru a vast majority voice. The last branch of discussion is the Social branch. I believe this branch is determined thru the ethics branch of philosophy. People shouldnââ¬â¢t have to give up rights just to live in a specific society. We should be able to live our lives the way we now and by the morals and ethics we have built for ourselves. I think some people act according to the surroundings they are in at different times. With many different cultures of society today, I believe there is a large language barrier. With all the different cultures communications has become a big issue. Each culture believes that their language should be the language spoken. I believe that there needs to be one universal language spoken and then different societies of people wouldnââ¬â¢t feel as if they were being mistreated or neglected. Reference: Baird, F. Hopeless and Absurd - Existentialism and Buddhism Essay
Hopeless and Absurd - Existentialism and Buddhism Perhaps the most telling symptom of existentialist philosophers is their ever-divergent theories on the fundamental characteristics of human life and their steadfast refusal to assign an explicit meaning or reason to our existence at all. Contrary to criticism which therefore labels the movement cynically nihilistic, existentialism justifies life with reasoning similar to that of Zen Buddhism. Specifically, the notions of hopelessness and absurdity can be gleaned from Buddhism in a manner helpful to the understanding of existentialist viewpoints on the same. Though these two perspectives elicit no fewer contrasts than comparisons, their juxtaposition highlights the workings of theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Whether it is hope for a better position in society, or hope for a lovers companionship, the attachment to desire ignores the eventual reality of impermanence. Death assures our mandatory individuality. Though we may accumulate relationships and material possessions throughout the course of our earthly life, we are nonetheless subordinate to the limits of time. Mortality stipulates ultimate loss. The only way to live free of crippling dread and anxiety is to free ourselves from expectations as well as ego-driven involvement in the affairs around us. As with Buddhism, existentialism does not require estrangement from society. Both suggest that actions will reflect the free choice of the individual. Though individuals tend to seek an exterior justification for their choices, the existentialists regard freedom as the unavoidable responsibility of complete independence. In this manner, the Buddhist tradition also acquits so-called human nature of blame for infractions on the part of the individual. The only way a person can act is by directing them self in a manner which he/she can accept from all other people. In Sartres view, to act otherwise is to surrender self-deception (Kaufmann, 320). It is useful to acknowledge that Buddhism and existentialism differ significantly in their views on individuality. While existentialism focuses entirely on the individual, Buddhism rejects the concept of

What Is Ballfield Dirt Made From
Theres one out in the bottom of the first inning with a man on first base. The pitcher eyes the runner inching away from first. As he turns and throws a low curveball to the plate, the runner sprints for a second. The catcher is up with the ball and makes a strong throw, the runner slides under the infielders glove and is called safe in a cloud of dust. The crowd roars approval. The groundskeeper frowns. Thats too much dust. Runners and fielders sprint, brake, slide, and fall on the infield dirt through all nine innings. All of them rely on it for good footing. Fielders expect batted balls to bounce true on it. Each segment of the infield skin, as its called, has special problems and particular solutions. Maintaining it demands skilled hands and a geotechnical awareness. Ballfield Dirt Ingredients Ordinary soils contain organic matter and are too crumbly for sports. Ballfield dirt is a blend of water and three grades of sediment: sand, silt, and clay. Clay is mineral particles smaller than 2 micrometers, or 0.002 mm; it is plastic when wet and solid when dry. Clay furnishes strength and holds moisture. Sand (0.05 to 2 mm) and silt (0.002 to 0.05 mm) soften clays hardness and allow moisture in and out. Infield Skin The base layer of an infield skin is 10 to 15 centimeters thick and consists of 60 to 80 percent sand, 10 to 20 percent clay and the remainder silt. Given the right moisture content, this material delivers Tractionââ¬âshoes dont slip or catchPlayabilityââ¬âballs bounce trueResilienceââ¬âthe ground gives when a players body strikes it A top layer of loose conditioning material, a centimeter or so thick, keeps cleats from sticking in the clay and allows players to fall safely and slide under control. It also shades the underlying soil and improves drainage in case of rain. A conditioner is made by calcining clay, roasting it at about 600 to 800à °C to drive out the water chemically locked in the mineral. The clay expands into a lightweight, hard granular material. Also used is vitrified clay, roasted at a higher temperature and similar to the material in bricks and tiles. Finally, there is calcined diatomite, which is a nearly pure microscopic silica. The Pitchers Mound The mound and batting areas take a beating from players who dig in with their cleats, so these areas use a stronger mixture with a high clay fraction. Actual unfired bricks, 80 percent clay or more, are commonly used to build up these areas with a thin layer of infield mix on top. Watering Ballfield Dirt Daily water is the key to good ballfield dirt. If the field is too dry or too wet, it affects the quality of play and can even lead to injuries. The crew that sprays the infield before the game has already watered it several times that day. They will water it again when the game is over, or first thing the next morning. The ground can never dry out or the infield skin must be rebuilt. Watering has to take into account the regions climate, the weather that day, the presence of clouds or shadows, the wind, and even the style of play the team favors. Drainage is important for an infield skin, but not the way you might think. The clay content of infield mix does not let water percolate through it quickly; instead, the field is built with a slight slope, less than 1à °, to direct rainwater off to the side. Maintaining Ballfield Dirt Before a game, the grounds crew loosens the upper part of the soil to soften it and prepare it for watering. They also rake and level the infield skin, then add top dressing as needed. They repeat this during the game to maintain consistent playability. If rain delays affect the game, the crew covers the infield with tarps to keep excess moisture from the skin. Afterward, they may need to remove puddles. A fine-grained calcined conditioner works for this purpose. A product made of ground corncobs is also used, but that is raked up before resuming play. The crew may also sometimes need to restore the mound or batting areas with fresh clay. Groundskeepers test their dirt every season, measuring its grain-size profile. They may have a soil lab do this work, though its basically a low-tech job involving screens, water, and beakers. But observing the soils behavior under different moisture conditions cannot be outsourced, and good groundskeepers are constantly in touch with the players and coaches as well as with the dirt itself. Umpires Mud Lets not forget the umpires. Before every game, they open a bag of regulation baseballs and rub the gloss off them using Major League Baseballs official rubbing mud, a brown, nearly pure silt from a New Jersey streambed. See the photos for my tests on this material. The true baseball fan can purchase dirt from Chicagos hallowed Wrigley Field, encapsulated in metal and accompanied by a handsome photo. Just the thing to hold as you root one more time for the Cubs.

Iago as the Perfect Villain of Shakespeares Othello Essay
Iago as the Perfect Villain of Othello Iago, the villain in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Othello, is a round character of great depth and many dimensions. Iago works towards an aim that is constantly changing and becomes progressively more tragic. Yet, at times, honest Iago does actually seem honest. This essay will explore the complex character of honest Iago. One of the most interesting questions that crops up is concerning Iagoââ¬â¢s motives. What are his reasons to kill every major Venetian in Cyprus? Shakespeare seemingly sets the stage for Iagoââ¬â¢s actions, giving him two distinct reasons to avenge Othello. The first is the fact that Othello promotes Cassio, an arithmetician to the rank of lieutenant and passes over Iago who is but aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Shakespeare portrays Othello as the general without faults, perfect. Yet, he slowly reveals the weaknesses of Othelloââ¬â¢s love for Desdemona. For this love he will forsake anything. Iago is quick to pick on this and starts working towards destroying Othello through his only shortcoming. Iago uses a gamut of devious methods to achieve his means. His use of Roderigo is a masterly move. From being a Venetian gentleman, Roderigo becomes Iagoââ¬â¢s gull. In the very first scene he gets him to confront a sleepy Brabantio and give him the news of his daughters escapades with the Moor. At the end of the court scene in the first act, Iago and Roderigo are left alone with the poor doting lover in great despair. Roderigo takes a decision to drown himself. Iago easily convinces him out of it by pointing out Othelloââ¬â¢s shortcomings. Says he, She must change for youth: when she is sated with his body, she will find the errors of his choice. This satisfies Roderigo and Iagoââ¬â¢s hate starts taking definite shape: I hate the moor, And it is thought abroad, that ââ¬Ëtwixt my sheets Heââ¬â¢s done my office. This is of course, unlikely and serves only as a justification for his evil. In Cyprus, Iago designs a brawl with Cassio and Roderigo by having the latter insult the former while they are drunk. Ecostore Sustainability Management Analysis
Question: Discuss about the Ecostore Sustainability for Management Analysis. Answer: Introduction: Management Analysis is that section of the Annual Report in which a firm analyzes its own performance till now. The elements that have played a crucial role in the companys success are discussed in detail and even an analysis of future strategies is done. The future years are discussed by defining upcoming goals and approaches to new projects. Ecostore was started by a New Zealand Couple, Malcolm Rands with his wife Melanie, in the year 1993. The couple was engaged in sustainable and organic gardening practices on their property, but still their products were affected by chemicals and fertilizers. This fact gave birth to the concept of Ecostore (Independent News Media, 2016). The store is known to source healthier and organic products which are entirely free from chemicals. At the initial level, the company was launched as a small mail-order business supplying green everyday household products. While delivering such services the firm promises that its products would work just well as the mainstream brands. The prime aim of the store is to consider the Health of its customers above everything else and this has helped the firm to attract and retain a number of loyal customers. Due to numerous benefits attached to the products, the customer base for the company grew rapidly which made the Rands family to shift in Auckland an open a Retail store in Freemans Bay. The company offers around 100 products in New Zealand and has dominated around 900 supermarkets in Australia. Also operates in Hong Kong, New York, Singapore and Korea (Soo, 2011). Importance of the company to the Australian and International Landscape: As year by year, the importance of the preservation of the environment is growing, Companies with an idea of Go Green are becoming famous. When the Ecostore as moving from New Zealand to Australia, it was unveiled that the Australian Landscape was quite different from the former one. The Australians are more environmentally aware than the Kiwis and even have a strong leaning towards the companies that manufacture ethical products. Hence, the primary goal of the company to serve healthier products to the customers has helped it to gain the confidence of a number of loyal customers. Even an increment in the number of sustainable businesses in Australia has made the country to rank among the most eco-friendly nations across the globe. This in turn has attracted a number of foreign investors towards Australian markets (Katz, 2014). At the international level, the company has helped in improving the economic status. For instance, such companies are said to use the most conservative for of energy which has low production cost. So the nations are able to cut the prices on energy production. Even the pollution at the Global level is reduced as these companies do not contribute in waste production and carbon emission levels (Business Review Australia, 2014). Sustainability Practices of Ecostore: Ecostore is committed to sustainability. The products produced at the companys plants are safer for the customers as well as for the planet. The production process does not involve any cruelty towards animals and is even safe for the septic tanks and Grey water use. The products are also free from usage of any nasty chemicals that are harmful to mankind when used for a prolonged period. The company believes to grow its own herbs and other food items. This practice is not only better for health, but also helps in cutting down the grocery bills. Production own food items also help in decreasing the pressure of the overworked global food system in order to address the food requirements of the increasing population (Ecostore Company Limited, 2016). For the environmental sustainability, the company through its products and product packaging tries to keep the waste levels at the minimum. In this case, the company has tried to replace the plastic packaging with other bio- degradable materials which does not contribute in the pollution level of the environment. Role of Organizational Behavior at the Company: Organizational Behavior means the way in which individuals and groups interact within and towards the organization. In the Ecostore, like all the other organizations, Organizational Behavior aims to help managers and supervisors of the company in a number of ways. The elements of this behavior study the human behavior within an organization. Organizational Behavior elements also clarify the factors that affect the managing powers of the senior executives. For instance, if the employees are receiving good ambience at the workplace, they tend to deliver the best services. In such a case, it becomes easy for the managers to manage the satisfied workforce without any issues (Frederick, 2014). The managers, using elements of Organizational Behavior, studies the attitudes and behavior of the workforce towards the organization and evaluate the best ways to manage and change them. The organizations internal working is also influenced by the external factors present in the markets. So, the or ganizational behavior also plays a pivotal role in identifying these factors and their good and bad influence on the operations of the firm. To provide the employees, a job structure that is a pure amalgamation of satisfaction, challenges and rewards, the managers adopt the approach of effective Organizational Behavior measures and succeed in building a loyal relationship with the employees (Robbins, 1996). HRM Practices: The company is committed to deliver environmentally sustainable products in the markets and as the firm thinks quite high for the sustainable practices, hence it emphasizes a lot on social sustainability too. In this reference it has succeeded in developing a set of good Human resource Management practices. The executives of the firm collaborate with the other leaders in the company to clarify the departments strategic direction by articulating the Vision, Mission and Value Statements. The leaders in the firm also perform a pivotal role in establishing a strategic linkage and integrating the HR programs through HR plan. This integration helps in better implementation of the HRM activities over the employees and the latter are thought to be more benefitted by its elements (CSB Gov., 2012). The HRM practices are said to improve the competencies of the workforce so that they can perform in a better manner and prove as a useful asset for the firm. If the manager introduces a number of incentives and perks in the reward policies of the company then it motivates the working staff towards delivering best services. The efficient HRM activities also include a number of training and skill-development sessions through which there is an establishment of a good service culture in the workplace and innovations tends to rebuild in the presence of a skilled workforce (Laursen Foss, 2012). Role of International Business: The concept adopted by the Ecostore is trending at the global level too, and hence this gives an opportunity for the firm to expand into International markets. International Business is important to Ecostore as they give the domestic business a chance to access new markets and satiate different sets of consumer tastes (Cavusgil, et al., 2007). The Globalization concepts and approaches have allowed a number of firms to compete with businesses around the world and gain a new experience in the marketing fields. The only recommendation over this expansion for the company is to have a deep knowledge about taking a good advantage of the opportunities of international business so that Ecostore continues to receive good advantages of the services offered. Another notable role of the International Business is that it helps in determining the strengths of a Nations Economy as it highly depends on the quantity of Imports and Exports to and fro from the international marketplace. The other common benefits of the International Business to the considered firm are helps in meeting the imports of industrial requirements, natural resources are used profitably, numerous employment opportunities are generated in the foreign markets, the image of the producer as well as of the nation is improved in the eyes of the foreign customers, and the overall living Quality and Standard of the Consumers are raised. Role of Technology Management: In the modern era of business, selling something entirely natural is quite tough. The Ecostore has entered a market in which, if gaining customer attraction is easy then losing them is easier too. But, as Technology amalgamates with the firms operations, then this latter part is eliminated to a great extent. The problem arises in the management of the Technological elements installed in the firms operation. Technology management, when defined in its purest form, is a set of disciplines that allows the entrepreneurs to manage its technological elements and attain a competitive advantage over the other rivals of the same genre present in the domestic as well as the foreign markets (Vienna International Centre, 2001). As the company highly relies on the technological reformations for stability and continuous increment in its success rates, so it is quite crucial to manage its Technology strategically. If not managed well then there are possibilities, then the company might face a huge loss in the coming future. Technology Management aims at maximizing the cost effectiveness of the capital invested in the Technological developments and thus adds to the companys value. A well managed technological element allows the crucial information to flow at the required pace within an organization and thus each and every participant of the company remains connected with one another. If Ecostore Executi ves succeed in managing its technological aspect in a good manner, then the firm will definitely improve on its operations and have a reduction in the operational costs too (Larosiliere, et al., 2013). Analysis of Entrepreneurship and innovation: The founders of the Ecostore are Malcolm Rands and his wife Melanie. They started this venture as a small business in an eco-village in New Zealand in the year 1993. At the initial level, the company was engaged with its customers via mail-order business, but as the company expanded so the couple shifted to Auckland in the year 2007 to set up a retail store. Ecostore products are believed to have a strong support of the scientific researchers and innovators behind them (Robb, 2014). Sir Ray Avery is the lead formulator and chemist of the company. He, along with his team, develops products by researching a lot for prolonged months to ensure that the new products meet the efficacy and environmental standards set up by the environmental agencies and the countrys government (Barnett, 2015). The motivation for this concept has been derived from the perceptions of its leaders. The leaders of the firm have always believed in considering the health of the people above all the other elements and this has made them to find the best alternative of the products adulterated with unnecessary chemicals. The innovators have developed effective solutions through their products for the customers suffering with myriads of diseases and skin disorders like eczema, arthritis, asthma and other related allergies (Rands, 2014). Future strategies and Recommendations: Ecostore has come up with an innovative idea in the domestic as well as foreign markets, but at the same time there are a number of challenges that could be faced by the company in the coming future as the competition in this stream too are increasing at a rapid pace. The company has to follow certain recommendations to stay for a longer duration in the race and introduce innovative products for the expanded customer bases. As the public consciousness of ethically produced and eco-friendly products is increasing at a rapid pace, hence the company is required to expand its business to remote destinations too. The raw markets have a number of consumers that deliberately want these kinds of services. So the company could explore such markets to increase its customer base and moreover gain new experiences (NZME Publishing Limited, 2014). The organic and natural products generally have exorbitant prices because the ingredients re natural without any adulterations. In such a case, only customers with good income and lavish lifestyle could afford it. As the company thinks to expand in International markets, so it becomes necessary to target all the social classes. This is crucial because the foreign markets, like in Asia, there are a number of social classes with different needs and perceptions. Hence, to target all possible target markets, the company has to introduce its products at a wide range of prices so that all types of people could afford and enjoy the companys services. Ecostore has not been able to reach and attract a lot of customers across the globe. This is because it has not adopted myriads of promotional strategies to attract and retain targeted consumers. So, in reference to this, the company should allot a pre- determined budget for its marketing strategies. Good advertisements will make a lot of customers to become aware of the existence of the brand. The promotion strategies will also help the firm to gain the feedback about the companys products and then develop new products in close compliance to the customers requirements (Hinkin, 2012). Conclusion: From the above management analysis, it has been made clear that Ecostore has come up with an innovative concept that complies with the standards of all sorts of sustainability. The company has been able to attract lots of customers with its idea of promoting natural products over the chemical ingredients of the daily used products. Moreover, this approach has made a lot of contribution to the maintenance of ecological balance in the environment as most of the firms activities are designed to reduce wastage and pollution levels. The effective roles of HRM practices, Organizational Behavior and Technological management have allowed the firm to maintain a good position among all the other rivals of the same genre. As the perceptions of the Customers keep on changing with time, hence the company needs to follow a set of recommendations to attract a huge customer base towards the natural products of the company.
